Can providers charge less than the Price Guide limit?
Yes. The price limits are maximums, not minimums. Many providers charge below the limit, particularly sole traders with lower overheads. Negotiating rates, especially if you are engaging a provider for regular ongoing support, is entirely within the spirit of choice and control in the NDIS.
What happens if a provider overcharges my NDIS plan?
If you believe a provider has charged more than the applicable price limit, you should raise this with your provider first. If it is not resolved, you can report it to the NDIS Commission, which regulates provider conduct, or to the NDIA if the overcharge affects your plan balance.
Does the Price Guide apply to all NDIS participants?
Agency-managed and plan-managed participants are subject to the price limits. Self-managed participants are not bound by the limits but are still required to ensure their spending is on reasonable and necessary supports.
