Frequently asked questions
- Can I change my support coordinator mid-plan?
- Yes. Your support coordination funding belongs to you and you can choose a different provider at any time, subject to the notice period in your existing service agreement. There is no requirement to stay with the provider named in your plan.
- Does having a support coordinator mean I am not self-managing?
- No. Many self-managed participants also have support coordination in their Capacity Building budget. The two arrangements address different aspects of your plan.
- Can I have Level 2 and Level 3 at the same time?
- In some cases yes, particularly during a transitional period. The NDIA may fund a short block of SSC alongside ongoing standard support coordination when a crisis or complex episode is being resolved.
- What if I do not use all my coordination funding?
- Unused Capacity Building funding does not roll over at the end of a plan period under the standard rules. If you are consistently underspending your coordination budget, it is worth talking to your coordinator about why and whether a different approach would be more useful.
