Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my NDIS plan?
Your plan is available through the myplace participant portal and the my NDIS app, and it is usually emailed to you or your nominee after your planning meeting. You can also ask the NDIA for a printed copy, or ask for it in an accessible format such as Easy Read or large print. If you cannot find it, call the NDIA on 1800 800 110.
How do I know how much money I have left?
If you are plan-managed, your plan manager can give you an up-to-date statement, often through an app. If you are NDIA-managed, the my NDIS app and portal show your remaining budgets. If you self-manage, you track it yourself, so keeping a simple running record of every claim is important so you always know your balance.
Can I change how my plan is managed?
Yes. You can ask the NDIA to change your management type, and you can have different budgets managed in different ways. It is worth understanding the trade-offs first, because the choice affects your paperwork and which providers you can use. A support coordinator or the NDIA can talk you through it, and our Self-Managed vs Plan-Managed vs NDIA-Managed guide compares the options.
What happens if I don't spend all my funding?
Unspent funding does not usually carry over into your next plan automatically. Leaving a lot unused is not a saving and can suggest you needed less than was funded, which may affect your next plan. If you are consistently underspending, it is worth discussing with your support coordinator or the NDIA before your reassessment date.
Will the 2026-2027 reforms change my current plan straight away?
Not overnight. Changes apply progressively as plans reassess or renew, starting with the participation budget reset from 1 October 2026 and new-framework planning from 1 April 2027. Critical daily-living and personal-care supports are not part of the participation reset. Dates have shifted before, so confirm what applies to you with the NDIA rather than assuming.
