What does 'stated support' mean on the NDIS?
A stated support is funding locked to a specific purpose or item — like a quoted piece of assistive technology, a home modification, or SIL. It must be used for exactly that purpose and can't be moved to a different support, even if you self-manage your plan.
Can I move money between flexible and stated supports?
No. You can move flexible funding between supports within the same budget, such as inside Core. But stated funding is tied to its named purpose and can't be reallocated. If your needs change, you request a plan variation or reassessment rather than spending it differently.
Is my Core budget flexible?
Mostly, yes. Core is usually the most flexible part of a plan, letting you move money between supports like personal care and community access as your week goes. Some Core supports, such as SIL, can be stated, so check your plan or ask your plan manager.
What happens if I spend stated funding on the wrong thing?
