Do you have to leave the NDIS at 65?
No. If you were an NDIS participant before turning 65, you can choose to stay on the NDIS for life. Turning 65 does not force a move to aged care, and nothing changes automatically because of your age.
What ends NDIS access after 65?
Two choices close an NDIS plan permanently once you are over 65: moving permanently into residential aged care, or starting permanent aged care home support for the first time after 65. Neither can be reversed, so decide carefully.
What if my parent first needs support after 65?
If someone was not an NDIS participant before 65 and first needs support later, they are generally directed to the aged care system through My Aged Care rather than the NDIS, which has an age requirement for entry.
Can you use both the NDIS and aged care?
