Will I lose my leftover NDIS funding?
Unused funding does not automatically carry into your next plan; it is allocated for a specific period. But you do not keep it either way, and a modest underspend should not, on its own, cause your next plan to be cut if your needs are unchanged.
Does underspending mean my next plan will be smaller?
Not automatically. Your next plan is based on your needs and goals going forward. If those are the same or greater, the plan should reflect that. Being able to explain why funding was not used helps at reassessment.
Why do I keep underspending?
Common reasons include a slow start finding providers, changed needs, time in hospital, or thin markets where supports are hard to book. If a barrier is stopping you, raise it early rather than waiting for reassessment.
Should I spend my remaining funding quickly before the plan ends?
No. Spending for the sake of it is not the aim, and supports still have to be reasonable, necessary and disability-related. Focus on genuine needs, and fix any barrier that stopped you using support.
