What are my rights as an NDIS participant?
You have the right to choice and control over your supports, to safe and quality services under the NDIS Code of Conduct and Practice Standards, to be free from harm, to complain without penalty, to challenge decisions, to decision support and advocacy, and to privacy.
What is the NDIS Code of Conduct?
It's a set of rules from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission that every provider and worker must follow. It requires them to respect your rights and privacy, deliver supports safely and competently, act with honesty and integrity, and prevent and respond to harm, violence and abuse.
Can I complain about an NDIS provider without losing support?
Yes. You have the right to complain without fear of losing your supports or being treated badly for it. You can complain to the provider or to the independent NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. Complaining is a protected, normal part of keeping providers accountable.
What can I do if I disagree with an NDIS decision?
You can request an internal review under section 100 within three months, and if still unhappy, appeal to the Administrative Review Tribunal. Advocates can help you at no cost. Challenging decisions is a built-in right, and the internal review and ART guides explain the steps.
