What was a Level 3 Home Care Package worth?
A Level 3 package carried an annual budget of around $40,000 (indicative and indexed over time). It funded regular weekly support such as personal care, some nursing and allied health, domestic help, meals and transport, coordinated by your provider.
Does Level 3 still exist?
Not as a separate level. Home Care Packages were replaced by Support at Home on 1 November 2025, which uses eight classifications instead of four levels. Level 3 broadly maps to the middle classifications, roughly 4 to 6, with comparable budgets.
Did I need to reapply when the system changed?
No. If you held a Level 3 package, your services continued and you were mapped across to a matching Support at Home classification automatically. A 'no worse off' principle also protects your contribution arrangements if you were on or approved for a package before 12 September 2024.
Can I get more funding than Level 3 provided?
Yes, if your needs have increased. Request a reassessment through My Aged Care. If the assessment shows greater need, you may move to a higher classification with a larger budget. Notes on falls, hospital stays or new diagnoses help support the request.
