Frequently asked questions

Is a reassessment the same as a plan review?

In practice, yes - 'reassessment' is the term the NDIA now uses for looking again at your plan and funded supports. Some people still say 'review'. The preparation in this checklist applies either way.

Will the 2026 reforms cut my personal-care supports?

The participation reset that begins progressively from 1 October 2026 applies to social and community participation budgets, not to critical daily-living or personal-care supports. Confirm how any change affects your specific plan by contacting the NDIA on 1800 800 110.

Can I bring someone to my reassessment?

Yes. You can bring a support person, a family member, a free independent advocate, or your support coordinator. You can also request an interpreter. Ask the NDIA when you confirm the meeting.

What if I disagree with a reassessment decision?

You can ask the NDIA to explain the decision and, if you still disagree, request an internal review. An advocate can help you through this. The NDIA can explain current review timeframes and steps.

Where do I get help if I am distressed?

For immediate danger call 000. To talk to someone call Lifeline on 13 11 14. For concerns about a provider or worker, contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission on 1800 035 544.
