Keeping Your Supports Through a Reassessment
How to keep your NDIS supports continuous through a reassessment: plan continuity, roll-over and extension, and how to avoid gaps in your funding.
One of the most common worries at reassessment time is simple: will my support suddenly stop? The short answer is that the system is built to prevent that. This guide explains plan continuity, how roll-over and extension work, and the practical steps you can take to make sure there is no gap between your current plan and your next one.

Frequently asked questions
Will my supports stop when my plan ends?
Generally no. Plan continuity means your supports should keep flowing while your reassessment is completed. Your plan may roll over or be extended so you are not cut off simply because a date has passed.
What is plan roll-over?
Roll-over is when your existing plan continues past its end date so your funding and supports remain available while your next plan is being worked out. It is one of the ways the system protects continuity.
Do I need to arrange an extension myself?
Usually not. Roll-over and extension are part of how the process is meant to work. It still helps to stay reachable, respond to any NDIA contact, and keep your support coordinator informed.
What if I run out of funding before my reassessment?
Raise it promptly. A shortfall before your reassessment may point to increased needs, covered in Reassessment When Your Needs Increase, or may be something to manage with your plan manager or support coordinator.
Who do I contact if my supports are at risk of lapsing?
Contact your support coordinator, LAC or the NDIA as soon as possible and explain the situation. Because continuity is a core principle, there is usually a way to keep you covered while it is resolved.
How can I prevent a gap in the first place?
Know your plan end date, respond promptly to NDIA contact, keep your details current, and pace your supports across the plan. Staying in touch with your support coordinator helps someone watch the timeline with you.
