Reassessment When Your Needs Increase
Seeking more NDIS support when your needs grow: the evidence to gather, how to make the request, and what to expect from a reassessment.
Needs do not only stay the same or ease. Sometimes they grow, and your plan needs to grow with them. If you are finding your current supports are no longer enough, this guide walks you through it: recognising a genuine increase, gathering the evidence, making the request, and what to expect, so you can ask for more support with confidence.

Frequently asked questions
Can I ask for more support if my needs have increased?
Yes. Seeking more support when your needs grow is a normal part of being on the scheme. The key is showing clearly, with evidence, that the increase in need is real and ongoing.
How do I know if my needs have really increased?
Signs include funding running out early despite careful use, tasks needing more help than before, relying more on informal support, or a lasting decline in your health or capacity. A new goal or life stage can also increase needs.
What evidence supports an increase?
A current report describing your functional needs, ideally against what you could manage before, plus letters about any change in health or capacity, and notes on where current supports fall short. See Evidence for a Reassessment.
Should I wait for my scheduled reassessment?
Not necessarily. If your needs have grown, you can report a change of circumstances or request an early reassessment. See Telling the NDIS Your Situation Has Changed and Requesting an Early Reassessment.
Will my current supports continue while I wait?
Generally yes. Your existing plan usually continues while the NDIA considers your request, so you are not left without help. Keeping Your Supports Through a Reassessment covers protecting continuity.
How should I frame the request?
Tell a clear story: how your needs have grown, the evidence, and the support you now need, linked to your goals. Be specific about what you can no longer do without support rather than asking generally for more.
