Frequently asked questions
Is a service agreement legally required for support coordination?
It is not mandated for every participant in the same way as for some other supports, but the NDIS practice standards and Code of Conduct expect transparent, agreed arrangements. In practice you should always have one: it evidences informed consent, records the budget and fee, and is the document reviewers and the Commission look for if a dispute arises.
What hourly rate do I put in the fees section?
Use the current price limit for the relevant level from the live NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, matched to the correct support item number. Indicative 2026-27 figures are around $80.06 (Level 1), $100.14 (Level 2) and $190.54 (Level 3 specialist) per hour, but confirm the live document before signing — these are billing caps against the plan, not wages.
How should I handle conflict of interest if my organisation offers other services?
Disclose it plainly in the agreement, present at least a couple of genuinely unrelated alternative providers, document why any related service was chosen, and never steer the participant toward your own services. Conflict-of-interest scrutiny is tightening, so a written, honest disclosure protects you as much as the participant.
Can I charge a cancellation fee for a missed meeting?
Only if the current Pricing Arrangements allow a short-notice cancellation claim for your support item, and only as set out in the agreement. Do not invent a fee. Write down the notice period you ask for and exactly what, if anything, you will claim.
Do I need a new agreement at every plan reassessment?
Not if the arrangement, budget and fee are genuinely unchanged. Review and re-sign whenever the plan, budget, level, or your fee changes, or whenever the participant's representation or consent arrangements change.
