Who is eligible for CHSP?
Generally people aged 65 or older, or 50 or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who need entry-level support to live safely at home. Younger people on low incomes who are homeless or at risk may also qualify in some circumstances.
Is CHSP means tested?
No. Eligibility is based on your level of independence and need, not your income or assets. There is no means test to qualify, although you may be asked to pay a modest contribution fee toward the services you receive.
What does CHSP cover?
Entry-level supports such as domestic help, meals, transport, some personal care, home maintenance and minor modifications, social support, and entry-level nursing or allied health. It is for people who need a little help, not substantial daily care.
How do I apply for CHSP?
Apply through My Aged Care. Register by calling 1800 200 422 or online, have a short screening conversation, attend an assessment (usually a home visit), then get matched to services and choose a provider to start.
