Frequently asked questions
What is My Aged Care?
My Aged Care is the Australian Government's single entry point for subsidised aged care. It runs a phone line, website and online account, and it is the gateway to assessment, funding and providers. Nobody can receive government-funded aged care without going through it first.
How do I register with My Aged Care?
Call 1800 200 422, Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm, or apply online at myagedcare.gov.au. Have your Medicare card ready. Registration and screening take about 15 to 20 minutes and set you up for an assessment.
How do I set up a My Aged Care online account?
Register with My Aged Care, then link your account to your myGov login. The online account lets you view your assessment outcomes, support plan and referrals in one place. If linking through myGov is tricky, the phone line can help you set it up.
Can someone deal with My Aged Care for me?
Yes. You can set up a representative — often a family member — who can speak with My Aged Care, receive information and help manage your account. Arrange this early, as without it My Aged Care may be unable to discuss your details with anyone else.
